The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society is internationally recognised as the governing body of Scottish Country Dancing.

It was formed in November 1923 to[1]:

  1. Practise and preserve Country Dances and danced in Scotland.
  2. Collect old books, manuscripts and pictures illustrative of Scottish Dances.
  3. Publish from time to time descriptions of Country Dances with diagrams and music in simple form, at a moderate price.

The RSCDS has it's headquarters at 12 Coates Crescent, Edinburgh, EH3 7AF and also has a number of "local associations" or "branches" throughout the world.
